My sweetie upgraded to version 3.2 this past May. Here he is, smiling politely after I forced (gently prodded) him to pose for the camera:

His requests for party food were pretty simple: “French onion soup. Oh, and some kind of Bavarian cream!” I decided to build the menu around these items, and declared it a “French-ISH” theme. ISH.

Unsurprisingly, I ended up buying pounds upon pounds of cheese for the evening.

By the way, this does not include the cheese for the cheese plate. (!!!)

So, what to serve at a French-ISH birthday party with seven lovely and attractive guests on the way? How about seven recipes to help you out:

That is admittedly a stock (ha! like soup!) image, because the dish went so quickly that I didn’t have a chance to photograph it properly. I’ll replace it with an actual photo taken by me the next time I make it.

I initially got some flack for suggesting this dish, but it turned out absolutely delicious. A surprisingly tasty and low-effort option. RECIPE HERE.

In addition to these dishes, we also served a cheese tray and a bowl of leftover berries topped with lime zest. I’m getting hungry looking back at these pictures.
